The Schuylerville Black Horses won their first-ever NYSPHSAA Class C state championship in 2024 with a 26-20 win over Salamanca. Under Coach John Bowen, the program has become a regional powerhouse, featuring state bids in 2015, 2019, 2021.

Grounds has been the HC as Jacksonville since 2001. He was a split back veer guy who went to the spread before 2010 to be a contrarian. Fast forward 12 years and now his whole conference was in the spread. So he went back under center and went all in on the flexbone!
